Zen Target was first conceived in 1990 along with a series of sculptures that used large reclaimed wooden beams conjoined to found and manipulated steel elements. The angled wood beam was replaced with the steel I beam. It is very heavy and solid.
The idea for Zen Target comes from the book " Zen and the Art of Archery" by Eugen Herrigel in which a pupil learns from his Zen Archery master that hitting the target is not the point, but rather, the goal should be letting loose a "right" shot.
