Glacier's Receding
An ongoing project examining the collaboration between man and nature at the University Sand and Gravel pit in Brooktondale, NY. The receding glaciers of the Pleistocene era left an indelible mark on the landscape of the Finger Lakes region; remnant deltas, moraines, eskers and drumlins contain ordered layers of sand and gravel which are then mined and further refined. The lines between human-altered environment and the naturally occurring processes are blurred, calling into question the significance of our role in altering the landscape.
